Dr. Demetria L. Haddock, Principal

Welcome to Woodward Elementary School!

I am elated to be the new instructional leader of such a diverse learning community. Having 23 years of educational and leadership experience with the DeKalb County School District, of which the last 6 has been at Woodward, I am delighted to continue to serve the Cross Keys and Brookhaven school community, staff and more importantly the children in our district.

My door is always open and I extend to you the opportunity to continue to visit, volunteer and become an integral part of a school where active learning is our focus daily. Wearing the honor proudly of one of the state of Georgia's 2016 "Family Friendly School winners", you will always see my smile, positive energy and student focused learning throughout our school.

I am joined by a phenomenal administrative team, academic coaches, instructional support specialist, and counselors that work extremely hard daily to ensure that our goal to meet and exceed expectations are demonstrated through the tireless efforts of teaching, learning and student success. Sharing our mission statement daily makes being a Wildcat more challenging, which serves as an accountability measure for us school-wide. Wearing the title of a Wildcat keeps us ready for the challenge!

We welcome you and look to see you in our classes soon...

In Support,

Dr. Demetria L.Haddock
Principal

Ms. LaTonya Jones, Assistant Principal

Hello Woodward Wildcat Nation!

Welcome to the 2016-17 school year! I am so excited and truly honored to be the Assistant Principal at Woodward Elementary School. I look forward to working with Dr. Haddock and Dr. Blanton, as well as the rest of our staff, in our efforts to do whatever it takes to advance the achievement of all students. Working together, I am confident that we will continue to provide our students with academically challenging and enriching school year.

I began my educational career in 2002 with the DeKalb County School District, I have served students at Oak Grove Elementary, Dresden Elementary, and Kittredge Magnet School as a classroom teacher, lead teacher, after school program director, Georgia Online Gifted Facilitator, and Assistant Principal. I feel very fortunate to serve this wonderful community. Woodward is a special and unique community that I am proud to be a part of.

The elementary school years are important and critical for students and families. What happens during these years will have a lasting impact on students’ growth and development. My goal as Assistant Principal is to provide the leadership in a collaborative learning community that will ensure academic and personal achievement. I am confident that our school will continue to be a place where students can learn academically and socially.

Feel free to stop in and say hello, as my door is always open. If there is anything I can assist you with, please let me know.

Respectfully,

LaTonya Jones
