PRINCIPAL'S WELCOME MESSAGE

Greetings Woodward Elementary School Family,

I am truly excited to welcome our teachers and staff back to the 2024–2025 school year and extend a warm welcome to the new members joining our Woodward Elementary School Family. I hope you had a chance over the summer to find time for yourself and your family to relax, rejuvenate, and reflect. Taking time for self-care and mental health is essential for us to give our best to our scholars, families, stakeholders, and each other.
As we embark on this new year, we remain committed to that same standard of excellence. The motto that has resonated with me since my time with Woodward Elementary during the Summer ESOL Title III Camp in 2018 is “Empower and Inspire.” This will continue to guide us as we enrich the lives of our scholars and motivate one another to bring our best every day.
This year, our focus remains on building teacher capacity and improving student achievement. We will incorporate tools, strategies, and practices to meet the diverse learning styles and needs of our scholars. Our instructional focus aligns with the CSIP and includes:
  • Phonics & Vocabulary
  • Numeracy & Computation (with a focus on multiplication for grades 3–5)
  • Writing
  • Small-Group Instruction
  • RTI/MTSS
  • Intentional Student/Parent Conferences
  • Individual Teacher Data Talks (Glow/Grow and Next Steps)
  • TKES/DKES Goal Alignments to Data-Driven Instruction
It is vital that we meet our scholars where they are, both academically and socially. To achieve this, we must:
  1. Take ownership of our students and classes.
  2. Communicate weekly with parents about student performance, progress, and concerns.
  3. Build strong relationships through consistent communication between teachers, students, and the community.
Our administrative and leadership teams, along with our support staff, are committed to exceeding expectations. We also encourage your input as we enhance what is already working while introducing new strategies to reach our goals.
Finally, Woodward Elementary School is a family-oriented environment. We take great pride in fostering a caring, creative atmosphere where scholars thrive and our DCSD initiative of H-PRIDE shines.

Warm regards,
 Kimberly L. Clark
Proud Principal of Woodward Elementary School
